Family of alleged nursing home abuse victim files lawsuit

Placing a loved one in an elder care facility is always a difficult decision for Kentucky families. However, as age takes it toll, independence can be stripped and self-care can become difficult. Nursing facilities were developed to provide care and safety for those who can no longer care for themselves. Most nursing homes throughout the country are wonderful, long-term care facilities that strive to provide the best possible care. These days, however, nursing home abuse is happening more and more.

In another state, a lawsuit was filed after alleged negligent care in a nursing home severely injured a woman. The lawsuit, filed by a family member, said that the woman sustained a fall while living at the nursing facility. According to the lawsuit, the woman suffered several debilitating injuries as a result of the fall, including a fractured femur and a severe urinary tract infection as well as physical pain and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds the nursing facility responsible and claims that the fall was the result of negligent care and inadequate supervision by the nursing home staff. The lawsuit also alleges that the facility failed to provide protective services. The plaintiffs seek damages, court costs and all other just relief.

Although the vast majority of nursing homes in Kentucky are welcoming and safe places for loved ones, neglect can still occur. Families whose loved ones have suffered nursing home abuse could benefit from discussions with an experienced legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in much-needed compensation to help families during this difficult time.
