Interstates and major highways in the United States are constantly teeming with tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles transporting goods across the country. For other motorists utilizing these roadways, driving alongside massive tractor-trailers can be very intimidating. Because these vehicles are so large, any collision with a tractor-trailer is more likely to result in serious injury or death to those in smaller vehicles. Unfortunately, truck accidents have been increasing across Kentucky.
A recent crash in Lawrence County involving a tractor-trailer ended in tragedy. The accident happened during the afternoon hours on U.S. Highway 23. According to reports, a Kia Soul slowed and attempted to make a left turn. Reports said the Kia was suddenly struck in the rear by a tractor-trailer.
All occupants of the Kia, the driver and two passengers, were tragically killed in the crash, authorities said. Reportedly, the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured. Police say no criminal charges have been filed as of yet, but an investigation is ongoing.
Today in America, there is an ever-increasing need to transport goods and merchandise, meaning there are more commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers than ever before on roads across the nation. Motorists are forced to share already crowded roadways with commercial vehicles, which leads to more accidents. Kentucky residents who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in truck accidents could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in compensation to help families recover any monetary losses that may have occurred as a result of this experience.
