Medical Malpractice Remains One of The Leading Causes of Death

Many Kentucky families know all too well what it’s like to lose a loved one. The death of a family member is one of life’s most difficult and stressful events. When a family member is lost as a result of medical malpractice, the experience can be absolutely devastating and traumatic.

In another state, a woman died due to alleged medical negligence and a lawsuit was filed by her estate. According to the lawsuit, the woman was complaining of shortness of breath and sought treatment. After being seen by the defendant, the lawsuit claims that the woman was discharged and sent home with a few medications and instructions to follow up with her primary care doctor.

Allegedly, the woman sought treatment again the following day for the same symptoms and the defendant gave her a steroid shot and sent her home again. A few days later, the lawsuit said the woman became unresponsive and was rushed to the emergency room. Reportedly, she died later that same day due to pneumonia and sepsis. The plaintiff accused the defendant of negligent care and seeks compensatory damages plus all just relief.

Unfortunately, negligence during medical treatment is responsible for killing and injuring thousands of people each year across the United States. Families in Kentucky who have been affected by medical malpractice may want to consider taking legal action by speaking with an attorney. A monetary award from a civil court jury won’t bring back a loved one, but it could help relieve the financial stress that families often face in this type of situation.
